| Betty's Tasty Buttons originated from my grandmother Betty's creamy fudge recipe. Summers at Harvey’s Lake were spent in part in Betty’s kitchen and the other part in her garden. Watching the pot of hot fresh fudge pour out onto the tray was impossibly exciting. The minutes were more like hours as we had to wait for the fudge to cool. The garden was the best way to distract us. Honeysuckles, roses and herbs grew in her gardens outside. By the evening the fudge had cooled and we were ready to devour it. Betty cut it into small pieces so we could store some of it in tins, but really it was just a way for all of us to pace ourselves. Over the years my grandmother gave many tins of the fudge to coworkers and friends. To this day people ask about her fudge. My memories are of how my grandmother Betty was always as excited as I was to dig into that sweet fudge. We hope to give you memories as lovely. |
Betty’s Tasty Buttons has seen a growth that we could not have anticipated. We have over 20 retail partners in Pennsylvania and growing interest in New Jersey, New York, and California. We feel this attention has happened because we take care in all aspects of the business. Delicious sweets are always enjoyed, but Betty's Tasty Buttons are additionally scrumptious because of the care we take in sourcing ingredients, growing our network with other local businesses and listening to our customers. All of this culminates in products that are nostalgic yet modern. Betty’s Tasty Buttons creates products that are of a time that is simple, comforting and simultaneously, exciting.

| Sustainability |
Sourcing ingredients locally is only part of our commitment to doing business sustainably. We search for the best ingredients as well as the best packaging, delivery and waste management as possible. The “best” is a term that is often times misused with business, but for Betty’s Tasty Buttons it means that we strive to deliver delicious tasting confections. Whenever possible we make business decisions that keep in mind our environment, community and future. Organic cane sugar is purchased over conventional because while cane sugar is not grown in Pennsylvania, we don not want to participate poisoning other parts of the world. Fair trade chocolate is sought for our fudges and sauces because we want to be part of responsible business not exploitation. The idea of fair trade is not only reserved for the ingredients that come from foreign countries, but here in the U.S. as well. Local farmers get prices for their produce that are fair. |
Customers as Our Community |
Betty's Tasty Buttons values our neighbors. We are always excited when we find another local business that shares our goals and values. Local ingredients are important to us since they employ our neighbors, require less transport and strengthen the local economy. The same can be said about Betty's Tasty Buttons' packaging. Our new boxes are made in Pennsylvania and the jars are made in Ohio. The cellophane bags that our Sweet Pete's Grahams are in are compostable.
Growing a network with other local businesses means we can direct our growth. |
